The Context

The European Cardiology Society Congress is an annual event that helps to advance the prevention, diagnosis and management of diseases of the heart and blood vessels, and improve scientific understanding of the heart and vascular system. 

As part of this event, the organisers wanted to implement a dedicated quiet space, for both neurodivergent attendees and those needing a quick escape from the busy show floor environment.

The Challenge

EventWell, a company that specialises in event spaces for neurodivergent guests and mental wellness areas, reached out to -45dB looking for new ways to bring their solutions to the ESC delegates directly within the middle of the congress.

The Solution

-45dB was selected to provide the infrastructure required for the quiet room. Our unique innovative design and features meant that a space that was usually held in organiser offices, could now be directly on the show floor.

Sound Reduction

The modular room provided excellent sound-reduction direct on the busy show floor, ensuring that noise from crowds did not disturb the attendees within the space.

Custom Sponsorship Design

The rooms featured graphics in collaboration with the organisers, keeping the space on-brand and allowing it to fit within the experience.

Results

After the room was built, EventWell were able to kit out the space with a whole host of tools and services, creating a serene escape within a safe, supervised, and accessible space.

 

This SensoryCalm Quiet Room allowed delegates to:

 

  • Take a 10-minute ‘brain break’, read, take a disco nap, meditate, listen to music, practice deep breathing, or simply sit and rest.

 

  • Reduce stimulation and triggers, effectively manage and regulate any sensory overload, and find a sense of calm.

 

  • Engage in a confidential and discreet conversation with a safe person about any emotions, experiences, or observations they may have encountered.
